IMSA Wins Intel’s Star Innovator Award!

September 16th, 2009 · Uncategorized

From Allalum-L –

IMSA Alumni,

On behalf of Dr. Max McGee and Dr. Eric McLaren, I’m thrilled to inform you that yesterday afternoon, in Washington, D.C., IMSA was named Star Innovator in the 2009 Intel Schools of Distinction awards program.  Each year, only one school in the nation is the recipient of this prestigious recognition.  You may recall that last spring, IMSA took the top honor for “science excellence” at the high school level.

To see photos, video and the latest news release from Intel visit http://www.intel.com/education/schoolsofdistinction/starinnovator.htm.

This honor is a credit to all who work, learn and live at IMSA, and to all who support us (parents, alumni, funders, board members, etc.).  Go Team IMSA!

My best,
Carolyn Johnson
IMSA’s Coordinator of Alumni Engagement

IMSA Alumni Weekend 2009

July 6th, 2009 · Uncategorized

From Ande Croll:

hey Alums -

I promise that this is one of the last (if not the last) emails that you
will receive from me as IAA president.

I know that you already have received emails reminding you that Alumni
Weekend is coming up in 2 and a half weeks on July 17-18. It promises to
be a great weekend. In addition to the 4(!) reunions, we also have
expanded the faculty/staff lunch to make it more family friendly. There
will be children’s activities during the afternoon, including an
inflatable moonwalk. We will be having a joint birthday celebration for
both Dr. Stephanie Pace Marshall and Dr. Leon Lederman, who have already
confirmed their attendance. Sue Eddins, Ed Goebel and Cathy Veal also have
confirmed their attendance. If you plan to attend, please confirm your
attendance at http://www.imsaalumni.org/alumniweekend/lunch.

In a scheduling change from previous years, the IAA annual meeting will be
held at 2pm following the lunch. At this meeting, we will have a vote for
the new IAA Officers and At-Large Members as well as proposed changes to
the IAA constitution. We also hope to honor retiring faculty members
Michael Casey, Socorro Cintron, John Martin and John Stark with honorary
membership in the IAA in recognition of their extended service.

I hope that some of you will consider running for an IAA At-Large or
Officer role for the coming year. Information is at
http://www.imsaalumni.org/iaa/elections. Your candidate statements must be
submitted by the end of this weekend (July 5). Electronic ballots then
will be available starting next week.

Also, please review the proposed changes to the constitution at
http://www.imsaalumni.org/iaa/constitutionbylaws/proposed_amendments. A
vote on these proposed amendments will be held at the IAA annual meeting.

If you have any questions or concerns about this, please send me an email
at president@imsaalumni.org. I look forward to seeing you at IMSA on July
18!

Ande Croll
